heading the workshop with students from UQAM
in the frame of design international 2013, invited by Celine Poisson
fontaine grise is a workshop on site in the UQAM in montreal. end of april 2013 we examined the public spaces of the city and searched for fountains. the fountain can be seen as a public gift, a celebration of joy and an offer of the element in a most aesthetic way.
the group of students went into redesigning an addition to the existing 1970s / 80s architecture of concrete and eternal solution. the existring fountain was of concrete and only very few months of the year it really works. what about all the other months and weeks? are we happy looking at a grey fountain with no water for most of the year? the workshop produced an ephemeral layer that suggests, things are not entirely what they seem to be, can change, be appropriated, can take in more and can provide more.
this extension of the reality of architecture can be achieved with small means, but with good spirit and a dynamic group and a week of action together.
the workshop „fontaine grise“ was done in the design week of UQAM 2013.
Fontaine grise
Hubert Aquin
tes effroyables parfums
je crache tes solitudes effarantes
et tes joies de mirage
et tes voliptės sans sommeil
Ma bouche languissante se dérobe
à tes hypocrisies lubriques
Mais dis-moi grise fontaine
ou puises-tu tant de laideur
et de si beaux mensonges
d’où te vient ce philtre multiple
qui soulage les vaincus
et assasine les fronts vierges
Laisse s’égouter encor un moment
ton venin mortuaire
breuvage immonde des âmes seules
pitié pour les faibles
pitié pour les agonisants
Nous avons bu de ton eau
fontaine de Satan
et nous nous suicidons de soif
